If the current peripheral Glucose Infusion Rate (GIR) is insufficient to maintain euglycemia, remember that peripheral IV access is strictly capped at a maximum concentration of D12.5W to prevent tissue sclerosis. If the infant requires higher dextrose concentrations or fluid restriction, immediately evaluate for central umbilical line access (UVC) to safely escalate therapy.
